I was invited out by fellow photographer Aidan Oliver to go street shooting with some film cameras, for the first time in over 15 years I got to shoot film. This wasn't like that time 15 years ago. Before I go on about the latest time I shot film let me tell you about the last time i shot film.
I was around 5 years old and I went out shooting with my dad. At the time we had a Minolta 7000 35mm camera. We went out to kilkenny city to shoot some night time long exposure photography. Sadly I don't have any of the film or prints from this night.
Our cameras on deck, I was using the Hasselblad 503C
Shooting with the 503C was an amazing experience and like nothing I had ever experienced. The waste level, ground glass view finder was simply amazing to look though, although it did take a bit of time to get used to. This was because the view left to right was inverted and a little confusing at first. Once I had had a few minuets to play with the camera it was fantastic. The view finder was so bright and clear.
503C viewfinder shot with an iPhone.
Make sure to catch part two of this blog when I get my negatives processed and scanned.
